Kulturrom is a Norwegian organization dedicated to providing support and funding for the development of cultural infrastructure, particularly focusing on venues and equipment for music and performing arts.

Founded in 2009 (previously known as «Musikkutstyrsordningen»), Kulturrom plays a crucial role in ensuring that cultural spaces, venues and rehersal spaces, have acoustics and the necessary technical equipment to foster creativity and diverse cultural expression.

The organization offers financial grants for equipment purchases, facility upgrades, and improvement of acoustics, among other needs, to help enhance the quality of cultural spaces across Norway.

Their mission is to make sure that artists and performers, professional as well as amateurs, have access to well-equipped, functional, and inclusive environments where they can thrive creatively and professionally.

Educational resources for technicians

Beyond financial support, Kulturrom also provides expertise in the maintenance and upkeep of technical equipment, offering educational resources and workshops to help cultural workers and technicians improve their skills in areas like sound, lighting, and equipment care.

This focus on improving and building competence ensures that cultural venues remain sustainable and continue to offer top-notch facilities for live performances and creative work.

Kulturrom also actively contributes to the recruitment of more women into stage technical professions, promoting gender diversity in these traditionally male-dominated fields.
